Day 8 - Beale Street Blues

I had always wanted to see Memphis and still do. Just about everything was closed due to the Covid-19 shut down. Streets were quiet. Parks were closed. Mud Island River Park was closed. The Mississippi River was closed. At least the landing was.

We parked Sophia down by the Mississippi River park. There was a Visitor's Center, which was closed up. The famous Bass Pro Shop was not closed but we had miles to go still.

I wish I could meet Elvis, but he was locked behind the glass of the closed window at the

Visitor Center. Not the immortal singe (as some have sighted), but the bronze statue, standing there on a pedestal with his guitar. I pulled off a shot of Elvis; you play the hand you are dealt.

We were Walking in Memphis along the sidewalk just out side the fenced Mississippi River, and got a picture

of a curious and colorful mosaic egg with "Memphis" on it, so I can say, I've been to Memphis

We drove around the quiet streets.. Beale Street, BB King Blvd, some more. So much was a closed up.. Where the Hell is Memphis?

We stayed in an inexpensive Motel in Memphis which was rather shady, so we won't mention it and ordered in. We wanted to go Central BBQ, but they closed early, so we settled for someplace else, which was just okay, so we won't mention that either. The hotel was funny because it had LOTS of plugs and handicap rails but the clientele did not seem particularly old... We both worried all night that Sophia would be ok in the morning. We woke early and then headed out to see some sights. But everything was closed...

We plan on Going Back to Memphis when everything is open again. but for now, we had our own kind of Beale Street Blues for Memphis in the Meantime, was closed.
